Bounce Life was a British life and health insurance brokerage founded by Ashley Reading and launched commercially in 2016. The underlying BounceLife Limited company had been incorporated in England on October 26, 2015. Headquartered initially in Bromley, Kent, the business set out to modernize the traditional insurance-broker model by combining financial protection products with technology, lifestyle benefits and a large nationwide referral network. BounceLife Limited operated as an appointed representative of First Complete Ltd., which was authorized and regulated by the UK Financial Conduct Authority.
Bounce Life arranged life insurance, critical and serious illness cover, income protection, mortgage protection and private health insurance rather than underwriting insurance policies itself. Customers were referred to advisers who assessed their protection needs and arranged policies from established insurance providers. The company also incorporated wellness and lifestyle benefits into its marketing, particularly policies and programs that rewarded customers for maintaining healthier lifestyles.
The company's field organization operated as the Bounce Network, a separate referral-marketing operation incorporated as Bounce Network Limited on February 27, 2017. Members of the network were known as "Bouncers" and promoted Bounce's insurance services to friends, family members, social-media contacts and other prospective customers. Bouncers submitted referrals through a proprietary mobile platform that allowed them to monitor referrals, statistics and commissions. The organization also used advancement titles, including Ruby Bouncer, as members progressed within the network.
Bounce described the model as referral marketing rather than a conventional insurance-agent salesforce. By 2021, the company said its network included more than 5,000 Bouncers, many of them mothers working flexibly from home. The network generated prospective insurance customers for Bounce's regulated advisers rather than having individual Bouncers directly advise customers or underwrite policies. Surviving material confirms referral commissions and advancement within the network, although the complete historical compensation schedule is not sufficiently documented to establish the precise number of paid levels or classify the plan as binary, unilevel or another conventional MLM structure.
Bounce grew rapidly during its five years as an independent business. By 2021, the company reported a customer base exceeding 30,000 clients and more than Ã'£3 billion in sums assured. In April 2021, Cream Financial Solutions acquired Bounce Life's insurtech platform and advisory business for an undisclosed seven-figure sum. The acquisition included the Bounce branding, customer base, referral and sales processes, intellectual property, technology platform and referral-marketing algorithms. Bounce's sales and management employees and its referral network were retained by the new owner, while Reading remained involved as a consultant to Cream's board and continued working with the Bounce Network.
