Original Npros business profile for DOVE Chocolate at Home, preserved below for archival purposes:
Dove Chocolate at Home was the early name used for a chocolate-tasting and home-party concept developed by Mars, Incorporated. The business formally launched nationwide in February 2007 as Dove Chocolate Discoveries, a Mars subsidiary headquartered in New Jersey. It gave Mars a direct-selling channel for premium and specialty products that were generally unavailable through conventional retail stores. Products were sold exclusively through independent representatives called Chocolatiers.
The product line included premium boxed chocolates, chocolate-covered fruit and nuts, truffles, baking chocolate, dessert mixes, fondue products, sauces, seasonings, beverages and entertaining accessories. Chocolatiers hosted in-home tasting parties, collected customer orders and maintained personalized online storefronts. Hosts earned product credits and other rewards based on party sales.
The company used a party-plan direct-selling structure with multilevel elements. Chocolatiers earned commissions on personal retail sales and could receive additional compensation by recruiting, training and supporting other representatives. During its growth period, Dove Chocolate Discoveries reported an independent salesforce of approximately 3,000 Chocolatiers and operated across 48 or 49 states.
In May 2017, Mars replaced the Dove Chocolate Discoveries identity with The Cocoa Exchange. The relaunched business used independent representatives called Curators and offered three principal collections: Dove Signature, Pure Dark and Pod & Bean. Curators conducted tasting experiences, sold products through personal online stores and earned commissions and incentives from qualifying sales.
The Cocoa Exchange later ceased operating, ending Mars' dedicated home-party and direct-selling chocolate program.
DOVE Chocolate at Home continues the entrepeneurial legacy of Mars Inc with their Chocolate Tasting Parties. Hostesses receive Dove Chocolate at Home gifts and products, half-prices on products in the exclusive line.
DoveĀ® Chocolate at Homeā"¢ is a division of Mars, Incorporated. Mars is a family-owned business with global annual sales of more than $21 billion.
