EcoFresh was a Dallas, Texas-based manufacturer and network-marketing company that sold environmentally oriented cleaning, deodorizing, pet-care, and pest-control products. Company materials promoted the EcoFresh brands as dating to 1972 and described EcoFresh Industries Inc. as a Texas corporation founded in 1982. Michael Brandt was identified as the company's founder and chairman, while Jason DiLeo served as president and chief executive officer from October 2011 through July 2013.
The product line included plant- and mineral-based multipurpose cleaners, cleaner-degreaser concentrates, pet odor sprays, odor-absorbing pouches, household deodorizers, toilet sprays, and professional pest-control products. The company marketed the products as biodegradable alternatives to conventional cleaners containing bleach or ammonia. Its EcoSafe pet line included odor-neutralizing sprays for animals, crates, carpeting, floors, and furniture, while products such as Moments #2 were formulated with water, essential oils, natural fragrances, and coconut-derived surfactants.
EcoFresh released what it called its second generation of EcoSafe Professional Products in May 2011. In addition to its consumer sales operation, it distributed professional cleaning and pest-control products through commercial channels that included Univar USA, WinField Solutions, and Grainger. The company also pursued expansion into China, Singapore, Thailand, the Philippines, Taiwan, and South Korea.
During the early 2010s, EcoFresh used a multilevel compensation plan to distribute its consumer products. Independent consultants could earn a reported 25% commission on personal retail and website sales. Contemporary opportunity information also described a 10% additional sales bonus after reaching $2,000 in monthly sales, commissions extending through five levels, a 3% leadership bonus tied to qualified directors, and monthly "Dream Bonuses" ranging from $300 to $700 at qualifying director levels. Consultants joined at one of three enrollment levels, and the program included startup costs and monthly autoship purchases
EcoFresh's plant based formula found in all of its products uses deionized water, essential plant oils, tree leaf extracts and cereal grains which enable a streak free and shiny surface. EcoFreshUSA's core product is EcoFresh "3-in-1 triple action!" Cleaner, which can be used on hard surfaces, glass, and in the air. The company's products contain no bleach, ammonia or alcohol, are hypoallergenic and biodegradable. Another product offered is the biodegradable, pesticide-free Eco-Safe "Sticky" bug trap which essentially works in a similar way that fly paper does, however its constructed using the same Eco-friendly chemicals and materials that its other products are. Among the three Odor fighting products the company offers, is the Refresherator, which claims to keep fruit and vegetables fresher, longer. The Refresherator allegedly out performs baking soda eight times over, absorbing odors and moisture, while helping to reduce refrigerator run time.
