Edington Collection Overview
The Edington Collection is no longer active. Company catalogs and promotional videos were still being released in 2015, including a fall catalog containing more than 280 pages. EdingtonCollection.com no longer provides an operating retail or enrollment website, and there is no current product ordering, affiliate enrollment, or Home Business Member program.
Original Npros business profile for Edington Collection, preserved below for archival purposes:
The Edington Collection was a home décor and general-merchandise company founded in 2002. It began with several hundred products and eventually expanded its catalog to more than 2,000 items. The company sold affordable décor, gifts, household goods, collectibles, and novelty products through its website, printed catalogs, home parties, direct mail, farmers markets, and independent sellers.
Independent sellers were known as Home Business Members. They took customer orders and purchased the products from The Edington Collection at wholesale prices, keeping the difference between the wholesale and retail prices. The typical retail profit was approximately 50%. Members could also earn free products and reward points that could be applied to later orders. The company did not require sellers to maintain inventory, allowing orders to be placed after payment was collected from the customer. The documented compensation was based on retail resale rather than a multilevel team commission structure.
The Edington Collection also offered a separate online affiliate program. Website owners could refer shoppers to the company's online store and receive a 10% commission on resulting sales.
The company also supported home parties with hostess coaching, sales scripts, catalogs, and product-ordering tools. Hosts helped gather customers for a presentation or catalog-shopping event, while the independent seller processed the orders and earned the retail margin. Archived training presentations show that home parties remained an established part of the company's sales program.
