Emerald Coast News was a Fort Walton Beach, Florida-based business-opportunity newspaper that began operating around 1989 or 1990. The publication targeted people interested in mail order, home-based businesses and network marketing, carrying articles, advertising and promotional material directed at that audience. Historical promotions described it as a nine-year-old publication with more than 7,500 subscribers and readers in the United States and overseas.

The company also operated a multilevel distribution program. Distributors sold subscriptions, advertising, mailing lists, leads, print-and-mail services and other marketing aids. One recruiting advertisement stated that distributors could earn retail margins of up to 80% on certain products and participate in a team-building compensation plan. The program later promoted a "No Fail Recruiting System," under which uplines were expected to help newly enrolled distributors recruit additional participants.

Emerald Coast News used replicated distributor pages on EmeraldCoastNews.com and promoted the newspaper both as a stand-alone income opportunity and as a marketing tool for distributors involved in other MLM businesses. Members received monthly advertising certificates that could be redeemed for advertising, sales leads or marketing materials.
