eStarNetwork no longer appears to be active as a direct sales company.
eStarNetwork was a Texas-based telecommunications and network-marketing company led by Troy Carl. The company launched in 2003 as an online sales network for consumer services. Its federal trademark records list June 16, 2003, as the first commercial use of the eStarNetwork name.
eStarNetwork gave independent representatives personalized websites they could use to market everyday household and telecommunications services. The company partnered with outside service providers rather than developing all of the services itself. In 2005, it added Packet8 internet telephone service to its lineup.
eStarNetwork operated as a network-marketing company. Independent representatives used personalized eStarNetwork websites to promote participating services and enroll customers. The company did not charge representatives to join or for its training and sales materials.
Regulatory Issues
In 2006, eStar Network LLC, eStar Communications LLC, eStar LLC, Troy Carl, and Troy Carl Communications Inc. were named as defendants in a bankruptcy adversary proceeding filed by Chapter 7 trustee Elliott D. Levin in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of Indiana. The case was a bankruptcy-related civil proceeding, not an FTC or state consumer-protection enforcement action.
