Etcetera Overview
Etcetera is a women's luxury apparel brand connected to Carlisle Etcetera LLC. The brand was introduced in 2001 and became known for contemporary women's clothing, seasonal collections, tailored pieces, knits, pants, dresses, blouses, skirts, jackets, and accessories. Etcetera was part of a larger fashion group that also included Carlisle, Carlisle New York, Per Se by Carlisle, ETC, and E3.
Etcetera's selling model has historically relied on personal styling and direct-to-consumer fashion service rather than ordinary retail-store shopping. Professional stylists worked with clients in person, by phone, by text, by email, and through private appointments or seasonal showings to help build wardrobes from the company's collections. The company's current site continues to promote personal styling, online shopping, and the ability for customers to connect with a stylist locally or virtually.
Carlisle Etcetera's business went through a major restructuring after The Connaught Group, the former parent company of Carlisle Collection and related fashion lines, filed for bankruptcy in 2012. A later Delaware Chancery Court decision described Connaught as a women's clothing company using a direct-sales model, and stated that the assets were purchased for $22.2 million, consisting of $20 million in cash plus forgiveness of certain claims by Royal Spirit against the bankruptcy estate.
Royal Spirit Group later acquired the remaining 50% interest in Carlisle Etcetera LLC in 2015. At that time, Carlisle Etcetera was described as a leading U.S. designer, manufacturer, and direct seller of women's fashion under the Carlisle, Etcetera, and Per Se collections, selling directly to customers through exclusive fashion consultants located throughout the United States.
Etcetera remains active at Etcetera.com, although the current site reflects a business in transition. Carlisle Etcetera has stated that it decided to forgo its Fall/Winter 2025 collections because of challenging conditions for apparel brands and was working on new plans for 2026. The company continues to present Etcetera as a luxury women's clothing brand supported by personal styling, customer relationships, seasonal collections, and direct-to-consumer sales.
