Agents, brokers and corporate personnel instead worked through an online platform and three-dimensional virtual office environment. The brokerage became a subsidiary of eXp Realty International Corp. in 2013, and its parent later adopted the eXp World Holdings name. On June 11, 2026, the parent company changed its legal name to AGNT, Inc. and moved its state of incorporation from Delaware to Texas. The eXp Realty name remains in use as the group's principal cloud-based brokerage brand.

eXp Realty provides residential and commercial real estate brokerage services rather than selling conventional MLM products. Its independent agents represent buyers and sellers, handle leases and referrals, and receive commissions from completed real estate transactions. The company supplies brokerage supervision, transaction management, training, marketing technology, customer-management tools and access to its virtual working environment. Agents must hold the real estate licenses required in the jurisdictions where they conduct business.

The company combines a traditional real estate commission arrangement with a seven-tier, MLM-style revenue-sharing system. U.S. agents generally retain 80% of their real estate commissions while eXp receives 20%, until the agent has paid the company an annual commission cap of $16,000. After reaching the cap, the agent retains 100% of subsequent commissions for the remainder of the anniversary year, subject to transaction and broker-review fees. Current listed charges include a $149 onboarding fee, an $85 monthly cloud-brokerage fee, a $25 broker-review fee per transaction and a $40 risk-management fee per transaction. Newer agents placed in the mentorship program are also subject to an additional 20% split on their first three transactions.

eXp Realty is one of the world's largest real estate brokerages by agent count. The platform reported 83,060 agents and brokers at December 31, 2025, $194.0 billion in 2025 real estate sales volume and 440,163 completed transaction sides. Its parent reported $4.77 billion in consolidated 2025 revenue. At March 31, 2026, eXp Realty had 82,332 agents and brokers, and parent-company first-quarter revenue was approximately $1.0 billion.

Agents can name a sponsoring agent when joining eXp. When a sponsored agent completes qualifying real estate transactions, part of the company's share of the commission can be paid to the sponsor and qualifying agents above that sponsor. The standard first-tier payment is 3.5% of adjusted gross commission income, and the revenue-sharing organization can extend through seven levels. Eligibility for deeper levels depends on maintaining qualifying frontline agents and satisfying the program's production requirements. Unlike a conventional recruitment-only program, revenue share is generated when licensed agents complete real estate transactions and produce revenue for the brokerage. eXp states that it redistributes 50% of its portion of commission splits through the revenue-sharing program.

Agents may also receive publicly traded company stock through production and agent-growth incentives. Stock may be awarded for completing an initial transaction, reaching the annual commission cap, sponsoring productive agents and qualifying for the company's ICON Agent Award. The ICON program can return as much as $16,000 in stock, subject to production, cultural and vesting requirements. This combination of personal real estate commissions, seven-level revenue sharing and equity awards gives eXp Realty a network-marketing-style structure, although the underlying business is a regulated real estate brokerage rather than a consumer-product MLM.
