The company promoted an official launch date of September 1, 2010, offering an internet platform where members could play skill-based games and compete for cash and merchandise prizes. Unlike most direct-selling companies, FantaZ did not sell a conventional physical product; access to its gaming platform, tournament entries and related memberships formed the basis of the business. Early membership levels included a $99.95 Basic package, a Pro package costing $99.95 plus $24.95 per month, and an Expert package costing $99.95 plus $49.95 per month.

The original opportunity operated as a multilevel marketing program. Representatives were called Z-Business Owners, or ZBOs, and the 2010 plan reportedly paid a $25 personally sponsored-member bonus and a 10% commission through seven unilevel generations. By 2013, FantaZ offered free membership and a $49.95-per-month Expert level. Qualified participants could earn tournament winnings, recruitment-related payments, commissions based on gaming volume generated through as many as seven downline levels, and shares of companywide volume and recognition pools. At that time, the company reported approximately 40,000 members and $82,000 in gaming commissions paid.

FantaZ has since replaced that structure with a much simpler referral program. Under its published ZBO terms, revised August 9, 2022, a ZBO pays either $14.99 per month or $149.99 per year and receives access to ZBO-only tournaments. The company states that ZBOs generally earn 10% to 40% of the paid tournament entry fees generated by their directly referred users. They also receive $5 each month for a directly referred member paying the monthly ZBO fee, or $50 when that member pays the annual fee. The published plan does not describe commissions on multiple generations of recruited ZBOs, making the current opportunity a direct affiliate or referral arrangement rather than the seven-level MLM plan used previously.
