GemStyle was founded in 2007 by Scott and Wendi Miller as a fashion-jewelry party-plan company. Scott Miller had previously worked in the diamond trade and became a member of the New York Diamond Dealers Club in 1999. The company was based in Las Vegas and recruited independent consultants to sell affordable jewelry through home parties and personal customer relationships. GemStyle's former mailing address was P.O. Box 81619, Las Vegas, Nevada 89180.
The product line included necklaces, bracelets, earrings, rings and other fashion accessories made with crystals, semiprecious stones, shells, stained glass, sterling silver, gold-colored and alloyed metals, leather and natural fibers. Consultants hosted in-home shopping events, earned commissions on personal sales and could sponsor and support additional consultants.
The company's mission is to encourage, educate, and empower women to develop their own business and to embrace their God-given potential while becoming the best that they can be, personally and professionally.
Gemstyle offers several catalogues that feature the latest trendy and original designs made with various precious metals such as gold and silver, in addition to gem stones, seashells, pearl, stained glass, and diamonds in products including earrings, necklaces, rings and bracelets. The company offers a large selection at reasonable costume jewelry prices. The web site gives access to both recently released catalogues as well as back issues and shows the jewelry being worn by fashionable models.
The compensation plan offers consultants a 25% retail sales commission plus and extra 5% for any months where sales exceed $1200. Sponsor bonuses are available from team members in amounts ranging from 1% to 3%, and periodic advancement bonuses are paid as well.
Gemstyle offers an up-line business opportunity for sellers and distributors interested in marketing their products. The starter kit retails for $199 and is advertised as providing over $500 in jewelry products and business supplies. Most products offered within the catalogues are priced between $10-$150. Depending on sales performance, Gemstyle representatives and gathering hosts can earn between 25% - 37% in commissions.
Gemstyle also has a Get Started program which goes into affect during the first 60 days after receiving the starter kit. Providing the seller holds 10 Shows and $3,000 in sales, he or she may earn up to $450 in Jewelry in addition to $500 in cash, provided a host recruits an individual who completes the Get Started Program and YOU earn a 1% bonus on their retail sales. The company also offers a hostess program that the Gemstyle website states is 100% paid for by Gemstyle.
