The Hemp Network (THN) was founded in the early 2010s as a direct-selling division of Medical Marijuana, Inc., one of the first publicly traded companies focused on hemp and cannabidiol (CBD)-related products. The company was established to market hemp-derived nutritional and personal-care products through an affiliate and multilevel marketing model during the formative years of the U.S. hemp industry. Its catalog included hemp oil, nutritional supplements, body-care products and other hemp-based consumer goods.
Independent members could purchase products for personal use, earn retail profits from customer sales and participate in a multilevel compensation plan by sponsoring additional distributors. Medical Marijuana, Inc. described THN as a platform through which additional hemp products and online communities could be integrated over time. In late 2011 and early 2012, the company announced plans to relaunch the business as "The Hemp Network 2.0" with expanded product offerings, upgraded distributor tools and improved communications.
As Medical Marijuana, Inc. shifted its strategy toward branded CBD businesses such as Kannaway, HempMeds and other subsidiaries, The Hemp Network gradually disappeared as a standalone opportunity. The original distributor platform and website were discontinued, and the MLM operation was effectively replaced by the company's newer hemp and CBD direct-selling brands.
The Hemp Network is in pre-launch and is set to officially launch on June 1, 2010. The enrollment fee is $100, and enrollees will receive $100 worth of hemp products, and will not be charged until one week prior to the shipment of their sample product basket. The Hemp Network will be using a binary pay plan, and all pre-enrollees will be placed in the powerleg of the pay plan.
