Once Upon A Family no longer appears to be active as a direct sales company.

Once Upon a Family is no longer active. The family-keepsake company operated through home parties beginning in 2002, later had some of its assets acquired and relaunched by Aerus Holdings in 2010, but the revived business also folded.

Once Upon a Family was an Irvine, California-based party-plan company that began selling products through home events in 2002. The business specialized in keepsakes, gifts and activities designed to help families document memories and establish traditions. Its merchandise included memory trunks, family recipe albums, photo albums, journals, holiday products, home décor and gifts for birthdays, weddings, children and other family occasions. At the time of a 2010 relaunch, the company said its catalog contained more than 200 products.

Independent consultants conducted home gatherings called Celebrations, presented the products and accepted customer orders. Historical recruiting material stated that consultants could earn as much as 25% profit on personal sales. The company also used hosts, fundraising programs and personalized customer relationships to generate sales, although a complete official compensation plan showing leadership overrides, rank requirements or average consultant earnings is no longer publicly available.

The original party-plan business encountered financial or operating difficulties before 2010. TX-OUAF Investments LLC, a subsidiary of Aerus Holdings, acquired certain operating assets and relaunched Once Upon a Family in December 2010. Aerus appointed Mike Magolnick to oversee the relaunch and announced plans for an expanded affiliate and host network, along with fundraising programs for schools, churches and civic organizations. The acquisition covered operating assets rather than a continuation of the original company as the same legal entity.

The relaunch did not produce a lasting active direct-selling company.
