CVSL Inc. acquired substantially all of Paperly’s assets on December 31, 2013. The transaction provided the sellers with 155,926 CVSL shares and an earnout equal to 10% of Paperly’s EBITDA from 2014 through 2016. CVSL later became known as JRJR Networks and filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in June 2018.

Paperly was a Chicago-based personalized-stationery direct-selling company founded in 2007 by Jay and Cindy Rudman. The business grew out of Cindy Rudman's experience operating a stationery store in Chicago and receiving inquiries from customers who wanted to establish similar businesses. Paperly translated that concept into a national party-plan company through which independent consultants helped customers design personalized paper products.
The company sold personalized stationery, note cards, address labels, gift stickers, calling cards, self-inking stamps, luggage tags, invitations and other customized paper and gift products. Consultants worked with customers through home parties, events and individual appointments, emphasizing personalization and design assistance. Paperly received two Direct Selling Association Ethos Awards for product innovation in 2012.
Paperly operated through a party-plan and multilevel compensation model. Historical company materials stated that consultants could earn 20% to 26% on personal product sales, plus bonuses of 4% to 12%. Participants could also earn 3% to 6% on downline sales, team or generational bonuses of 2% to 8%, and cash bonuses ranging from $50 to $1,000. Consultants were considered active after producing $200 in sales during a rolling quarter, and the company offered a $19 Discount Buyer Starter Kit.

Paperly's $99.00 Starter Kit contains 20 catalogs; 50 order forms; dozens of samples including notes, stickers, labels, notepad sheets, memo sheets, enclosure cards and luggage tags; swatches of Paperly's designs, ink/border colors and napkins; price sheets; $30.00 to spend on personalized marketing materials; and training and support documents. Paperly Consultants may also purchase personalized samples at 40% off during their first 40 days as a consultant. New Paperly Consultants have immediate access to a personalized website to take online orders, review training documents, publish their event calendar and invite guests to upcoming parties.
Compensation Plan
Paperly's commission on retail sales starts at 20%. Consultants can also earn a personal sales bonus up to 12%, downline commissions of 3-6%, team/generational bonuses of 2-8%, and Paperly Dollars (which can be used to purchase additional business supplies) when certain sales are achieved. Paperly team leaders must sell at least $200.00 per month to remain active.
