Original Npros business profile for Pur3x, preserved below for archival purposes:
PUR3X, also marketed as Pure3X and the Pure Energy Club, was a Utah-based beverage network marketing company founded by Andrew Rinehart. The business developed from Rinehart's earlier energy-drink activities and began promoting the PUR3X brand around 2009. Based in the Salt Lake City area, the company described itself as a "Designer Beverage Club" and recruited independent distributors to sell recurring shipments of functional beverages and build sales organizations.
The product line included PUR3X Renew, a caffeinated energy drink; PUR3X Revolution, a caffeine-free fruit, vitamin, and antioxidant beverage; PUR3X Passion, an energy drink marketed with natural aphrodisiac ingredients; and Tazza di Vita, an enhanced organic coffee. The company promoted its beverages as higher-end alternatives to conventional energy drinks and distributed them primarily through its network of members and independent representatives.
PUR3X used a 3-by-12 matrix compensation plan. Distributors could earn retail commissions, Fast Start bonuses on newly enrolled representatives, matrix commissions on product volume extending through as many as 12 levels, and matching bonuses. Historical descriptions of the plan listed a monthly personal sales-volume requirement of approximately $150, which was commonly met through recurring product shipments. A 2011 federal court decision confirmed that distributors enrolled under a formal compensation plan and that the company used an autoship program requiring approximately $150 in monthly product purchases.
The company's independent run ended in August 2011 when AL International, the parent company of Youngevity, acquired substantially all of the assets of Adaptogenix, including the PUR3X beverage brands, distributor organization, inventory, customer records, and intellectual property. The purchase agreement dated August 22, 2011 placed the transaction value at $1.25 million, including $300,000 in cash and additional payments under a promissory note. The acquired products specifically included PUR3X Renew, PUR3X Revolution, PUR3X Passion, Tazza di Vita, and related marketing materials.
The company name "Pur3x" is the business's symbolic representation of products that represent "purity" ( "Pur" ) and health as well as a compensation plan that pays you for bringing just 3 ( "3x" ) people into the club.
