Original Npros business profile for RBC Life, preserved below for archival purposes:

RBC Life Sciences traced its history to Royal BodyCare, a nutritional and personal-care company founded by Clinton H. Howard. Royal BodyCare began operating in the early 1990s, while the publicly traded RBC Life Sciences corporate entity was formed in 1999. The company adopted the RBC Life Sciences name in the mid-2000s and operated from a 119,000-square-foot headquarters and production facility in Irving, Texas. Its business included the RBC Life nutritional-products division and MPM Medical, which marketed wound-care and pain-management products to healthcare providers. RBC reported consolidated net sales of $28.4 million in 2011, compared with $28.2 million in 2010.

The RBC Life product line included more than 75 nutritional supplements and personal-care products covering general wellness, weight management, sports and fitness, skincare, haircare and body care. Leading products included Microhydrin and Microhydrin Plus antioxidants, TruAloe aloe-vera products, Stem-Kine, NeuroBright, organic spirulina, ColoVada Plus, Immune 360, HydraCel and the C7 skincare collection. Microhydrin and Microhydrin Plus generated approximately 10% of consolidated sales in 2011, while Stem-Kine accounted for another 5%. MPM Medical separately marketed approximately 28 wound-care products, including cleansers, dressings, hydrogels, antimicrobials and products used to address skin reactions associated with radiation treatment.

Independent distributors were called Associates. They purchased products at wholesale for personal use or resale, recruited additional Associates and earned retail profit and commissions on product volume generated by their downline organizations. RBC did not pay a commission solely for recruiting a new Associate, but recruiting created additional levels from which product-sales commissions could be earned. Monthly commissions increased as an Associate's personal and organizational volume grew. RBC reported approximately 14,900 active Associates at the end of 2011, up from 10,700 one year earlier, and paid $4.3 million in distributor commissions during 2011. Distributor commissions represented approximately 50% of commissionable Associate-network sales that year. BBB National Programs later described the company as having approximately 10,000 independent distributors in the United States and Canada in 2021.

RBC Life Sciences encountered serious financial problems in 2019 and 2020. The company borrowed approximately $1 million through secured convertible notes issued to businesses associated with DSS, Inc. and HWH World. After RBC defaulted, the lenders accepted some collateral in February 2020 and initiated Article 9 foreclosure proceedings against the remaining assets. At an April 23, 2020 public foreclosure sale, HWH World was the successful bidder and obtained most of the former assets of RBC Life Sciences and its subsidiaries. A creditor, Maiden Biosciences, later challenged the transfers after obtaining a $4.329 million default judgment against RBC. The resulting litigation was settled for $8.75 million after a December 2022 jury verdict; the judgment was vacated and the case was dismissed with prejudice.

RBC Life was formerly known as Royal Bodycare and RBC Life Sciences.
