SendOutCards was founded by Kody Bateman in the mid-2000s and built its business around a web-based system for sending personalized printed greeting cards, gifts, gift cards, and relationship-marketing follow-up messages. The company remains active through SendOutCards.com and its mobile app. Customers can select or design cards, add photos and personal messages, manage contacts, set reminders, and send physical cards and gifts through the company's fulfillment system. SendOutCards has described its service as having delivered more than 100 million cards and more than 3 million gifts, while later industry coverage reported higher cumulative totals of more than 200 million cards and 13 million gifts.
SendOutCards used a network-marketing-style sales model built around independent distributors and later affiliates/consultants. In 2022, the company announced a broader Promptings rebrand, describing Promptings as the parent company and opportunity platform for its product lines. Current compensation materials continue to describe commissions and bonuses tied to customer and team activity. The 2024 compensation plan listed commissions generally ranging from 10% to 30% on sales to customers or personally sponsored affiliates, and the July 2025 plan referenced an annual $79 renewal fee for active status.
