SimplyFun was founded in 2004 by Matthew Molen, Jeremy Young, and Gail DeGiulio, with its first product sale recorded in December of that year. Based in Bellevue, Washington, the privately owned company began with five family board games and developed into a specialty publisher of educational games for children, families, schools, and homeschoolers. SimplyFun now offers more than 140 non-electronic games and activities covering math and STEM, reading and language arts, social studies, strategy, communication, and broader life and thinking skills. The company reports that its products have received more than 250 awards from educational, parenting, and game-review organizations.

For much of its history, SimplyFun sold its games through independent consultants who demonstrated products at home parties, collected customer orders, and could earn additional compensation by sponsoring and supporting sales teams. The company gradually expanded beyond the party-plan channel into online retail, school programs, fundraising, and direct institutional purchasing. In February 2023, SimplyFun announced that it was phasing out its established direct-sales structure in favor of direct-to-consumer e-commerce and a simplified affiliate program.

The current affiliate program is free to join and does not use the former consultant rank and downline structure. Affiliates receive a 15% discount on personal purchases and a personalized referral link. Sales through that link pay a 10% weekly base commission, with monthly bonuses ranging from 2.5% to 5% when referred sales reach specified thresholds between $50 and $500. Annual bonuses include $50 after $1,000 in affiliate-link sales, $100 after $2,000, and $250 after $5,000. Affiliates can also earn points for link visits and referrals, which may be converted into product coupons.
