SiteTalk Review and History
Information on the SiteTalk discontinued direct selling program.
SiteTalk Overview
SiteTalk no longer appears to be active as a direct sales company.
SiteTalk is no longer active as a direct-selling company or business opportunity. Its MLM operation moved from Unaico to The Opportunity Network (OPN), and the remaining OPN network was absorbed into OneCoin in early 2016.
Original Npros business profile for SiteTalk, preserved below for archival purposes:
SiteTalk was an international social-networking platform launched in 2009 and closely tied to Unaico, a direct-selling company based in Hong Kong and Singapore. Unlike a conventional MLM built around nutritional supplements or household products, SiteTalk combined social networking with e-commerce and a network-marketing compensation plan. Users could join the social network for free, while Unaico provided the business opportunity through which members could earn commissions from purchases and sales generated through the SiteTalk ecosystem. Company materials promoted the combination as a way for members to participate financially in the growth of an online social community.
The SiteTalk platform incorporated an online shopping mall along with travel, games, telecommunications, education, vacation programs, advertising services, and other digital and third-party products. Offerings promoted at various times included SiteTalk Travel, SiteTalk Games, SiteTalk Coffee, SiteTalk SIM, SiteTalk Vacation Club, the Oxford Programme, and thousands of products available through its online marketplace. In 2014, SiteTalk also launched SiteTalk Music, a â'¬9.95-per-month streaming service that advertised access to approximately 20 million music titles.
SiteTalk and Unaico used a binary multilevel compensation plan based on Business Volume, or BV, generated through purchases. The plan paid a 10% direct sales commission on the BV associated with personally generated sales, along with a binary team commission calculated from volume on the weaker of a distributor's two sales teams. A matching bonus extended as many as seven levels into the organization.
Although registration on SiteTalk itself was free, members who wanted greater participation in the compensation program could purchase upgraded packages. Early packages were marketed at â'¬149 for Membership, â'¬500 for Bronze, and â'¬2,000 for Gold. Higher membership levels increased the maximum commissions a participant could earn. Under the later OPN version of the program, Business, Professional, and Premium Advantage Packages were priced at â'¬165, â'¬550, and â'¬2,250 respectively.
The business also promoted Options for Future Certificates, or OFCs, which were presented to members in connection with a possible future public listing. Members could receive and trade these internal instruments through the company system. The investment component attracted regulatory attention and became one of the more controversial aspects of the Unaico/SiteTalk program.
In 2012, Unaico transitioned its direct-selling operation to a new identity, The Opportunity Network (OPN), while SiteTalk continued as the consumer-facing social-networking platform. OPN retained the binary compensation structure and SiteTalk shopping ecosystem. By September 2012, company promotional information claimed approximately 12 million to 15 million registered SiteTalk users and more than 300,000 activated OPN profiles. These numbers were company-reported and were not independently audited.
SiteTalk underwent another corporate change in 2013. Global Digital Services PLC acquired SiteTalk Community Inc. through a transaction involving the issuance of 1.5 billion GDS shares with a nominal value of â'¬0.01 each. The transaction closed on July 30, 2013, making SiteTalk a wholly owned subsidiary of Global Digital Services. By early 2014, GDS was reporting more than 15 million registered SiteTalk members and was preparing an expansion into the United States. Frank Ricketts served as SiteTalk's CEO and managing director during this period.
The SiteTalk/OPN operation continued through 2015 but ultimately transitioned away from operating as an independent network-marketing company. In January 2016, a OneCoin announcement stated that OPN had joined the OneCoin organization, bringing its network and SiteTalk relationship into the cryptocurrency MLM. Industry reporting at the time described the transaction as OneCoin's acquisition of OPN and SiteTalk. The move effectively ended the original SiteTalk/OPN opportunity as a separate direct-selling business.
The former sitetalk.com domain no longer operates as the social network or MLM platform and currently redirects to a domain-sale page.
Enrollment Options
Joining SiteTalk is free. All SiteTalk Members receive a position in the business model upon joining and automatically become part of SiteTalk's referral program, allowing them to receive loyalty points for referring new members, as well as for activities such as posting messages, uploading photos or video and communicating with others. These Loyalty points may be used to purchase products and services. SiteTalk free members must upgrade to a higher membership level by purchasing a package in order to activate their position and participate in the binary compensation plan. Loyalty points can be used to upgrade to a Bronze or Gold membership in order to participate in the binary compensation plan.
Compensation Plan
SiteTalk members can earn three types of commission payouts: Direct Personal Sales Commission on all personally generated sales, Group Business Volume, and Matching Bonus paid out seven levels deep for a percentage of commissions earned by a member's downline.
