Original Npros business profile for Synaura, preserved below for archival purposes:

Synaura International was a New Hampshire-based network-marketing company founded by Dan Maltais and a team that included Travis Martin, Dr. Kenneth Kroll, and Dan Matauch. The corporate operation was established in 2008 in Laconia, New Hampshire, and entered pre-launch on January 1, 2009. Synaura promoted itself as a company "built for distributors by distributors" and centered its business on nutritional beverages and supplements.

The company's flagship product was Avia, a liquid nutritional supplement built around the maqui berry. Synaura marketed Avia as a four-formula product line and incorporated what it called SynPlex technology, using microcapsules suspended in the beverage to provide time-released ingredients. A 750-milliliter bottle sold for approximately $30, while a four-bottle case sold for $120.

Synaura used a multilevel compensation program known as the Freedom Plan. Associates qualified for monthly commissions by maintaining at least 30 CV, equivalent to approximately one bottle on autoship. Fast Start commissions paid 30% to the personal sponsor, 15% to the second-level sponsor, and 10% to the third level. The plan also paid commissions through as many as ten generations and included a Straight Line Bonus that allowed qualifying distributors to earn 1% on designated associates placed into their organization.

The company allowed participants to enter the opportunity at a relatively low cost and promoted free distributor training through Synaura University. Compensation materials tied volume directly to product purchases: one bottle generated 30 CV, two bottles 60 CV, one case 120 CV, and two cases 240 CV. Synaura also attached commissionable volume to its electronic business kit, making distributor-support materials another source of compensation-plan volume.

Synaura's independent run was brief. In April 2010, Dan Maltais sold Synaura to ELUR Inc. Maltais subsequently moved to XOWii later that year, while a number of former Synaura distributors moved into ELUR. Contemporary material from the transition specifically stated that ELUR was a new company with new ownership rather than simply a renamed Synaura. The transaction effectively ended Synaura's short period as an independent MLM company.

Synaura also became involved in a trademark dispute over the AVIA name. American Sporting Goods Corporation, which owned several AVIA trademarks, opposed Synaura LLC's application before the U.S. Trademark Trial and Appeal Board in 2009. Synaura's AVIA application was ultimately abandoned in March 2011. The separate SYNAURA FREE THE POSSIBILITIES trademark application for dietary supplements was also abandoned after the company failed to respond to a USPTO action in 2009.

The former synaura.com website no longer operates as a nutritional-products company or distributor opportunity and currently redirects to a domain marketplace.

Synaura is scheduled to launch on May 1, 2009
