Original Npros business profile for The Limu Company, preserved below for archival purposes:
The LIMU Company was founded by Gary J. Raser in 2004 and headquartered in Lake Mary, Florida. The company developed from Raser's earlier experience in the nutritional-supplement and network-marketing industries and built its identity around beverages containing fucoidan, a polysaccharide derived from brown seaweed. By 2012, LIMU reported operations in more than 24 countries and stated that it had paid more than $75 million in distributor commissions.
The company's flagship product was LIMU Original, a liquid nutritional supplement made with an extract of Tongan limu moui seaweed. Its other major product lines included LIMU Lean weight-management shakes and supplements and Blu Frog LIMU Energy, later marketed as Blue Frog and Blue Frog 2 energy drinks. Subsequent products included LIMU Lean Burn and other nutritional beverages and supplements. Product descriptions concerning energy, immune support, weight management and the effects of fucoidan were company marketing claims rather than FDA-approved disease-treatment claims.
LIMU sold through independent distributors known as Members or Promoters. Promoters earned retail profit, bonuses on the initial purchases of personally enrolled distributors and commissions on product volume generated through their downline organizations. The company used a rank-based unilevel compensation plan, not a binary or matrix structure. Historical plan descriptions show residual commissions extending through as many as eight levels, with additional Fast Track bonuses, first-order bonuses, rank-achievement awards, leadership pools, automobile incentives and travel rewards. Court records likewise describe a structured system of rankings, commissions and bonuses based on personal and downline sales volume.
On July 18th, 2003 Dynamic Essentials (Royal Tongan Limu) closed its doors and terminated all rep agreements. Original founders Gary Raser and Kevin Jones established The Limu Company after the closure and offered free lateral transfers to reps from Dynamic Essentials.
(Dynamic Essentials was a subsidiary of NBTY at the time of its closure, headed by original founders
Gary Raser and Kevin Jones.)
* Bryan Noar, Director of Training & Leadership Development for The Limu Company reports that Kevin Jones was originally going to be part of The Limu Company when it was in pre-launch phase, he returned to North Carolina and is not a participant at this time.
