TriStar Enterprises traces its history to Interstate Engineering Corporation, an aircraft and engineering company founded in California in 1937. Interstate manufactured aircraft and military components before shifting toward household appliances after World War II. The company later became known for its Compact canister vacuum systems. TriStar Enterprises LLC acquired the vacuum and home-care business in 2000 and continued selling the products under the TriStar name.
