Original Npros business profile for Univera, preserved below for archival purposes:
Univera is a botanical health-and-wellness company whose history traces to Namyang Aloe, founded in South Korea in 1976 by Yunho Lee after his personal experience with aloe vera. The broader organization developed into ECONET, a group of agriculture, research, biotechnology and consumer-products companies. Univera LifeSciences launched in the United States in 1998 and began direct selling in 1999 under Lee's son, Byung Hoon "Bill" Lee. The company was headquartered in Washington and worked with affiliated businesses including aloe cultivator Aloecorp and botanical research company Unigen.
Univera built its product line around aloe vera and other plant-derived ingredients. Earlier products were organized into categories such as Nourish, Restore, Fortify, Vitalize and Xperia and included multivitamins, herbal formulas, aloe drinks, joint-support supplements, energy products, skin care and personal-care items. The current online catalog contains approximately 58 products covering joint and bone support, digestion, immune health, energy, circulation, blood-sugar maintenance, sleep, women's and men's wellness, and skin care. Major products include Xtra, Aloe Select, Aloe Gold, RegeniCARE, KM, Prime, Rhythmatix, Level G Plus, Natural Dreams, AloeBiotics and the Botanity skin-care line.
During its network-marketing period, products were sold through independent Associates who earned retail commissions and multilevel compensation based on customer and team purchases. The plan included unilevel commissions of as much as 15% on personally enrolled customers and Associates, 10% on the next level and additional commissions extending through four levels. It also offered generation pay, promotional bonuses, travel incentives, monthly BMW allowances ranging from $500 to $1,600 and a Blue Diamond bonus pool funded with 2% of company commissionable volume. In 2010, Univera reported approximately $164 million in worldwide sales, 45,000 independent salespeople and 160 employees across three markets. Reported sales declined to approximately $138 million in 2011.
Univera ended its multilevel sales program effective December 1, 2020.
