Original Npros business profile for wowgreen, preserved below for archival purposes:
WowGreen International was a Michigan-based network-marketing company launched on February 15, 2009, by founder, chairman and CEO Allie T. Mallad. Headquartered in Southfield and later associated with a Dearborn mailing address, the company promoted a mission of removing toxic chemicals from households through environmentally friendly cleaning products. Mallad previously built a large Little Caesars franchise organization, and WowGreen launched with an executive team that included Rick Birndorf, David Deal and Owen Stern. By May 2010, the company reported approximately 15,000 customers across the United States.
The product line used proprietary enzyme-based formulas and included laundry and dishwasher detergents, dish soap, all-purpose cleaner, floor cleaner, glass and stainless-steel cleaner, tile and bath cleaner, carpet and upholstery cleaner, fabric prewash, toilet-bowl cleaner, air freshener and stain-remover products. Concentrated refills were mixed with water in reusable containers, reducing the number of plastic bottles required for shipping and household use. WowGreen also developed commercial cleaning products such as industrial degreasers and odor eliminators. Products were sold through independent distributors, who generally earned the difference between wholesale and retail pricesâ€"described as an average retail margin of approximately 20%â€"along with additional compensation available through the company's network-marketing organization.
