Herbalife Nutrition said it has joined the United Nations Global Compact, which it described as the largest corporate sustainability initiative in the world. The compact asks companies to adopt policies that support communities and basic protections for people and the planet.

Chairman and chief executive John Agwunobi said joining supports the work of the United Nations and that the company will fold the compact principles into its practices. The company tied the step to its environmental, social, and governance strategy.

Adam Roy Gordon, engagement director of the United Nations Global Compact, welcomed the commitment to the secretary-general, the Ten Principles, and the Sustainable Development Goals.

The company also listed existing partnerships with the American Red Cross, Feed the Children, and the Chinese Red Cross Foundation for disaster relief, hunger, housing, and healthy living.
