It was founded in Sydney in 1988 by Phil Hobby and Jenny Hobby, who named the company LeReve, French for "The Dream." The company began by selling 16 concentrated parfums through home parties and has since expanded into pure essential oils, aromatherapy products, plant-derived skin care, candles, and reed diffusers. LeReve is a privately owned family business headquartered in Baulkham Hills, New South Wales, and operates in Australia and New Zealand. Phil Hobby serves as CEO and has served 13 years on the board of Direct Selling Australia, including four years as chair, receiving life membership in the association in 2024. LeReve has described itself as a long-term accredited supporter of Choose Cruelty Free.
