In addition to consumer complaints, Quixtar complaints have been taken as high as the United States Federal Trade Commission. Although the company cannot legally be termed a "pyramid scheme"; critics argue that the fee structure and compensation plan are synonymous with that type of business.

Quixtar complaints by consumers and distributors alike range from missing products, not receiving information and start-up packages after paying the $100.00 fee necessary to do so, poor quality/high priced products, and having to pay commissions to recruits, among others.

The company maintains that its compensation plan and products are above-board and high quality, as well as being priced for value for the average American family. Quixtar promotes itself as a family company, and has corporate ties with Amway.
