Original Npros business profile for SPX Nutrition, preserved below for archival purposes:
SPX Nutrition was a Utah-based health and wellness network-marketing company launched on May 16, 2014, under the leadership of CEO Rick Wall and COO Tracie Duke. The company operated from the Salt Lake City area and marketed nutritional supplements, weight-management products, and later skincare through independent distributors it called Independent Professionals, or IPs. Within four months of launch, SPX reported that customer and distributor sales had exceeded its original projections.
SPX Nutrition grew out of Wall's earlier involvement with Nutri-Thin, the weight-loss product that became the company's flagship offering. Wall had co-founded a separate Nutri-Thin network-marketing business with Lyle Waters in 2011, and the product was later marketed through EPX Body before Wall brought it into SPX Nutrition.
The company launched with three principal supplements: Nutri-Thin, Nutri-Cleanse, and Sea Veg with Vitamin D and Sea Cal. Nutri-Thin was promoted for weight management and appetite control, Nutri-Cleanse as a cleansing and detoxification formula, and Sea Veg as a whole-food nutritional supplement. SPX later expanded the line with Xtreme Cardio, an L-arginine and L-citrulline supplement marketed for cardiovascular support.
SPX broadened its product line considerably over the following years. In 2016, it introduced SPX Life Sciences, a skincare line that included Revivify moisturizing cream and Youthful anti-wrinkle serum. The company also introduced a Healthshare program and continued adding nutritional and wellness products. In 2018, SPX entered the hemp-derived CBD market with its 24K Gold Hemp Oil Softgel.
Another prominent part of the company's marketing was its 90-Day Weight Loss Challenge. SPX offered cash awards ranging from $100 to $600 to participants who met specified weight-loss goals, including losing at least 20 pounds during the challenge period. The program combined the company's supplements with nutrition, exercise, and coaching support.
SPX Nutrition used a hybrid unilevel compensation plan. Independent Professionals earned commissions from personal product sales and could build organizations of personally sponsored distributors. The historical plan extended residual commissions through as many as seven unilevel generations, with qualification based on Personal Volume, Group Volume, and rank. Entry-level IPs generally needed at least 40 PV per month to remain commission-qualified.
The plan included a 35% First Order Bonus on qualifying initial orders from newly enrolled participants, residual unilevel commissions, generational bonuses, New Growth bonuses, matching bonuses, rank-advancement awards, and monthly Lifestyle Bonuses. Historical enrollment options included approximately $120 Starter and $240 Builder product purchases, which affected eligibility for additional levels of the First Order Bonus.
SPX promoted unusually large rank-advancement incentives at its highest levels. Published compensation materials listed awards of $1,200 for Director, $24,000 for Executive, $120,000 for Corporate Director, $320,000 for Corporate Executive, and as much as $1 million for its highest rank, with the larger awards paid over periods of one to three years and subject to maintaining the required qualifications. Monthly Lifestyle Bonuses ranged from $200 at Senior Director II to $5,000 at the highest rank.
