Amway named Asha Gupta chief strategy and corporate development officer, reporting to chief executive Milind Pant.
Gupta spent 23 years at Tupperware and most recently was executive vice president and chief strategy and marketing officer there. Pant said she will lead internal teams and outside partners on Amway growth plans. He cited her habit of seeking diverse views and her experience managing teams in Asia, the Middle East, Europe, and the United States.
In the new role she will develop long-term global strategy and look at growth opportunities meant to help Amway Business Owners serve customers and build online businesses. She will also lead strategic acquisitions and alliances.
At Tupperware she led sustainability positioning and entry into new product categories. Before that global job she was group president for Asia Pacific, its largest region for revenue and profit. Earlier she was managing director for India and area vice president for Asia Pacific, a stretch in which Tupperware recorded 32 consecutive quarters of growth in India and gained what the company called super-brand status there. She started her career in regional sales at Coats Viyella and later consulted for Coca-Cola in the Middle East. Fortune India listed her among 50 most powerful women in business in 2012 and 2013.
Pant said her international leadership and interest in entrepreneurship fit Amway, and that the global leadership team now reflects more of the diversity of the business.
