Amway has invested 15 million dollars to redesign a 9,000-square-foot manufacturing facility that will make what it called the first exclusively sugar-free energy drink brand sold globally.
Brian Kraus, vice president of global manufacturing, said this is the first carbonated beverage plant for Amway in Ada. He said the project is part of a wider push to upgrade facilities, add manufacturing skills, and train employees. The plant will produce XS Energy Drinks for the United States, Canada, and Latin America.
Chief digital and marketing officer Giusy Buonfantino said the spending is also a bet on the energy drink market, which the company said is expected to reach 86 billion dollars globally by 2026. She described XS as tied to active living, fitness, and adventure, and said Amway Business Owners need products that keep customers.
In August, the National Association of Manufacturers gave Amway a Manufacturing Leadership Award for a workforce program called One Team, which is meant to improve collaboration, career development, and skills. Kraus said employees in the new plant will learn all aspects of beverage manufacturing in part because of that program.
XS Energy Drinks are sold in nearly 60 countries and only through Amway Business Owners.
