eXp Realty said it opened brokerage operations in New Zealand, bringing its footprint to 21 markets with more than 80,000 agents worldwide. Maria Stephens was named to lead the New Zealand business. Michael Valdes, president of eXp Global, said the launch strengthened the company's Asia-Pacific position alongside Australia, India, and Hong Kong.
New Zealand was the third market opened in 2022 after the Dominican Republic and Greece. Stephens has more than a dozen years of New Zealand real estate experience as an agent and in senior branch management. The company said its cloud-based model and agent equity opportunity would support competition in the market.
