Judge Stephen R. Bough of the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Missouri on October 31, 2024 granted final approval of The Real Brokerage Inc.'s settlement of the Umpa v. NAR commission antitrust class action, the company said.
Real announced the nationwide settlement on April 8, 2024. It resolves all claims against Real, its subsidiaries and affiliated agents in the case and does not constitute an admission of liability. Real paid 9.25 million dollars into a qualified settlement fund within 30 days after the court granted preliminary approval on April 30, 2024.
The settlement will become effective following any appeals process. Real said it does not expect the terms to have a material impact on its future operations. The company said it supported more than 22,000 agents in the U.S. and Canada.
