The U.S. Food and Drug Administration issued a warning letter dated June 10, 2022, to Young Living Essential Oils Corporate, addressed to co-founder and chief executive Mary B. Young. The agency said a May 2022 review of company and consultant websites and social media found disease-treatment and prevention claims for essential oils, Vitality products, Ningxia, and Nature's Ultra CBD products.
FDA said the products were unapproved new drugs and misbranded drugs under the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act because they were marketed for uses such as treating infections, allergies, high blood pressure, cancer-related claims, and other conditions without approved applications. The letter cited consultant posts and company pages and directed Young Living to respond within 15 working days with corrective steps.
