'What a ride! It is truly amazing how Scentsy has bloomed where we were planted. We love Idaho-the businesses that inspire us, the people who support us and the Consultants and employees who bring life to our story,' said Orville Thompson, Scentsy's CEO.
Heidi and Orville Thompson launched Scentsy in 2004 using an old, mice-infested 40-foot shipping container as their humble first office. Scentsy's flagship product line, decorative warmers designed to melt fragrant wax using a lightbulb instead of a wick and flame, quickly attracted a faithful following.
'We knew the products were perfect for direct selling,' said Heidi Thompson, Scentsy's President. 'Scentsy products have to be experienced. A party is the perfect way to share Scentsy.'
As of today, Scentsy has approximately 110,000 Independent sales Consultants sharing Scentsy in eleven countries. More than 1,000 employees work at the home office in Meridian or at the five distribution centers worldwide.
Scentsy has expanded beyond warmers and wax, offering airy diffusers, natural, fragrant oils, portable fragrance products, a laundry and cleaning line, children's products and a personal care line. Many of the lines, including the soon-to-be launched bath bombs are made on-site in Meridian, Idaho.
This marks the eighth year Scentsy has made the Idaho Private 100 list. The ranking was created to recognize private enterprise and honor privately held Idaho-based companies generating the greatest annual revenue.
