The original company was Beijo, Inc., was a Southern California handbag/accessories direct-sales company founded by Susan V. Handley in 2002. It sold non-animal-material handbags through a network of independent sales consultants, including home showcase parties, wholesale/resale, and team-building/direct-sales activity. A 2011 NBC/Action News article described Beijo as a “direct sales handbag company,” said it operated from a 28,000-square-foot warehouse in Santa Clarita, and reported that it had sold more than 1.5 million handbags and accessories through parties and online.
