A California Avon Ambassador has filed suit against The Avon Company, the U.S. Avon business, in Alameda County Superior Court, alleging that the company violated state labor laws in its treatment of its independent sales representatives.
The case, brought by David Abbott on behalf of the State of California under the Private Attorneys General Act, was filed February 9, 2026, at the Rene C. Davidson Courthouse in Oakland and assigned to Judge Joscelyn Jones. The claims cited include failure to pay minimum wage and overtime, failure to provide meal and rest breaks, failure to reimburse business expenses such as enrollment, web service, internet and phone costs, unlawful deductions, inaccurate wage statements, failure to provide workers' compensation coverage and violations of Labor Code section 925.
Abbott's law firm, Lebe Law, said it also filed a putative class action on February 6, 2026, alleging that Avon misclassifies its California Ambassadors as independent contractors rather than employees. An initial case management conference in the PAGA case is scheduled for August 11, 2026.
