Ghana's Ministry of Foreign Affairs said 44 Ghanaian nationals have been rescued from a fraudulent recruitment network in Nigeria operating under the QNET name and have been returned home.

According to the ministry, the victims were freed on March 16, 2026, in an operation by Nigerian security authorities, including the Department of State Services, and arrived in Accra on March 20. The ministry said they had been lured through social media with false promises of jobs and travel opportunities. "Upon arrival, they were subjected to exploitative conditions, including restricted movement, psychological coercion, and pressure to recruit others into the scheme," the ministry said.

The government said it is working with Nigerian authorities on the case and on the rehabilitation and reintegration of the victims. The rescue follows several operations in Ghana in recent months against groups using the QNET name to recruit victims, while QNET has said such schemes are not organized, authorized or endorsed by the company.
