Original Npros business profile for Votre Vu, preserved below for archival purposes:
Votre Vu was an Illinois-based direct-selling beauty company founded by Harold Zimmerman and Dave Proctor. The business was conceived in 2007 while the founders were operating Next Wave Logistics, a software and technology provider serving direct-selling companies. After researching the beauty market and selecting a French formulation laboratory, Votre Vu quietly launched in September 2008. Zimmerman served as chairman and CEO, while Ann Brodette, a former direct seller, led sales development. By August 2010, the company reported more than 2,000 independent Brand Ambassadors across all 50 states; by 2012, Zimmerman said the salesforce had grown to approximately 4,000.
Votre Vu marketed premium skin care, cosmetics, body care, hair care and beauty beverages formulated with botanical ingredients sourced from France. Products included facial cleansers, toners, moisturizers, serums, masques, body lotions, lip products, men's grooming products and the SnapDragon beauty beverage, which contained collagen, vitamins, aloe vera, ginkgo biloba and several types of tea. The company positioned the line between mass-market cosmetics and higher-priced department-store brands and sold products through home gatherings called soirées, personalized Ambassador websites, social media and mobile sales tools.
Brand Ambassadors earned approximately 30% on personal retail sales. Historical enrollment materials listed a $199 standard starter kit containing more than $400 in products and a $399 premium kit that included additional business tools and website services. The multilevel compensation plan also offered fast-start bonuses, team bonuses, lifestyle bonuses and matching-cycle commissions tied to the sales and development of recruited Ambassadors. Votre Vu promoted a weekly "5-1-1" activity system built around contacting five potential customers, conducting one sales event and recruiting one new Ambassador.
Votre Vu ceased direct-selling operations at the end of 2014. In a December 2014 message to the field, Zimmerman stated that the company needed to close its doors by year-end.
Votre Vu startup costs are $99 with an auto ship enrollment. The startup kit includes approximately $250 in products and business supplies.
