Viridian Energy Hosts Third Annual Earth Month Campaign

April 08, 2013 STAMFORD, Conn.--Viridian Energy, a leading provider of affordable, green energy, today announced its third annual campaign in honor of the company's celebration of Earth Month. The 30-day campaign will include more than 30 events across eight states and Washington, D.C., demonstrating Viridian's mission of individual choice creating a collective impact. Viridian, which is the only retail energy provider with a fully developed sustainability initiative integral to its corporate mission, has partnered with local organizations in communities across the Northeast and Midwest to augment, support and host a range of events that are focused on improving the environment, strengthening communities and encouraging greater sustainability.

"Over the years, Earth Month has created a tradition of environmental awareness that changed the paradigm of how we care for the planet" .Enhancing both the philanthropic and network-building aspects of its business, the company has seen its Earth Month celebration create a powerful ripple effect in the markets it serves and the culture of sustainable actions it encourages among its Associates.

"Over the years, Earth Month has created a tradition of environmental awareness that changed the paradigm of how we care for the planet," said Michael Fallquist, founder and CEO of Viridian Energy. "Now, it provides another opportunity for organizations focused on renewable resources and sustainability, including Viridian, to underscore the importance of making small choices that dramatically improve the environment. We are pleased to roll out this campaign of community events and plan to grow these events each year, helping the environmental landscape continue to change for the better."

In order to achieve its goal of doubling the nearly 700 volunteer hours logged during Earth Month 2012, Viridian assembled a 35-person Associate task-force that worked alongside the company's Associate Sustainability Council to organize local events in each of the company's markets. Community members and residents in these regions are invited and encouraged to participate in projects being held in their areas.

Earth Month events span park, river and beach cleanups; tree and vegetation planting, invasive plant removal and trail improvement.
