Body Wise International is an active nutritional-supplement company operating at BodyWise.com. The company was founded in 1989 by Tom Tierney and Ray Grimm and later came under the leadership of Bill Farley in 2000. In 1995, Body Wise settled FTC charges involving deceptive weight-loss and cholesterol-reduction claims and alleged failure to disclose that healthcare professionals endorsing products also had a financial interest as distributors. In 2005, Body Wise agreed to pay a $2 million FTC civil penalty and California’s proposed settlement required an additional $1.58 million in penalties and costs over allegations involving AG-Immune disease-treatment claims, including claims related to cancer, HIV/AIDS, heart disease, chronic fatigue syndrome, and asthma.
