SALT LAKE CITY, April 25, 2023 --

USANA Health Sciences reported first-quarter net sales of 248 million dollars for the period ended April 1, 2023, down 9 percent from 273 million dollars a year earlier, or 4 percent in constant currency after a 13 million dollar foreign-exchange headwind. Diluted EPS was 0.95 dollars compared with 1.15 dollars. Active customers were 491,000, flat sequentially but down 11 percent year over year.

Asia Pacific contributed about 200 million dollars, or 80 percent of sales, including 124 million dollars from Greater China. The company generated 13 million dollars of operating cash flow and ended the quarter with 295 million dollars in cash and no debt.

USANA raised the low end of fiscal 2023 guidance to 875 million to 950 million dollars in net sales and 2.40 to 3.30 dollars in diluted EPS, from prior ranges of 850 million to 950 million dollars and 2.35 to 3.30 dollars. Chief executive Kevin Guest cited China demand early in the quarter after COVID policy shifts and pre-price-increase purchasing as drivers of the solid start.
