SALT LAKE CITY, July 25, 2023 --

USANA Health Sciences reported second-quarter net sales of 238 million dollars for the period ended July 1, 2023, down 10 percent from 264 million dollars a year earlier, or 6 percent in constant currency after about a 10 million dollar foreign-exchange headwind. Diluted EPS was 0.89 dollars compared with 1.00 dollars. Active customers were 487,000, down 13 percent year over year and 1 percent sequentially.

Asia Pacific contributed about 194 million dollars, or 81 percent of sales, including 129 million dollars from Greater China. The company generated 10 million dollars of operating cash flow and ended the quarter with 300 million dollars in cash and no debt. President and chief executive Jim Brown said sequential mainland China improvement and in-person events supported results modestly ahead of internal expectations.

USANA raised the low end of fiscal 2023 guidance to 900 million to 950 million dollars in net sales and 2.65 to 3.30 dollars in diluted EPS, from prior ranges of 875 million to 950 million dollars and 2.40 to 3.30 dollars. The company also said it planned to open India as its 25th global market in late 2023.
