SALT LAKE CITY, October 24, 2023 --

USANA Health Sciences reported third-quarter 2023 net sales of 213.4 million dollars for the period ended September 30, down 9 percent from 233.3 million dollars a year earlier and down 7 percent in constant currency. Currency reduced sales by about 5 million dollars. Diluted earnings per share fell 24 percent to 0.59 dollars from 0.78 dollars.

Active customers declined 2 percent from a year earlier and 5 percent sequentially to 464,000. Chief Executive Jim Brown said results missed expectations, largely because of challenging economic conditions across many regions and a lower cadence of promotional activity during the quarter.

USANA narrowed its fiscal 2023 outlook to net sales of 900 million to 920 million dollars, from a prior range of 900 million to 950 million dollars, and diluted EPS of 2.80 to 3.05 dollars, from 2.65 to 3.30 dollars. The company said its balance sheet allowed it to keep investing in strategic initiatives aimed at long-term customer and sales growth.
