USANA Health Sciences reported record results for the fiscal second quarter ended July 3, 2021. Net sales rose 30.1 percent to 336.8 million dollars, or 20.3 percent in constant currency. Diluted earnings rose 41.7 percent to 1.87 dollars a share. Active customers rose 8.8 percent to a record 652,000. Net earnings were 38.2 million dollars.
Chief executive Kevin Guest said demand and a short-term sales program drove the quarter. Asia Pacific sales rose 33.3 percent to 279.0 million dollars, or 82.8 percent of the total. Americas and Europe sales rose 16.5 percent to 57.9 million dollars. Greater China sales were 165.4 million dollars, up 33.4 percent.
The company ended the quarter with 265 million dollars in cash and no debt after buying back 304,000 shares for 29.7 million dollars. About 51 million dollars remained on the repurchase authorization. Full-year guidance was reiterated at net sales of 1.24 billion to 1.28 billion dollars and diluted earnings of 6.15 to 6.50 dollars a share. Chief financial officer Doug Hekking said the second-half comparison would be harder because a similar sales program ran in the third quarter of 2020 and fiscal 2020 included an extra week.
