Monarch Health Sciences was a Utah-based health and wellness network marketing company founded in 2003 by Dallin Larsen, his brother Randy Larsen, and four-time Olympic steeplechaser Henry Marsh. Larsen had previously held a senior leadership position with USANA Health Sciences and brought extensive direct-selling experience to the new venture. Monarch initially focused on weight management, nutritional supplements, vitamins and minerals, and wellness programs, including products and services promoted under the Monarch Forever Fit name.

The company struggled during its first year before introducing the product that would ultimately define the business. In January 2005, Monarch launched MonaVie, a premium nutritional beverage made from a blend of fruits that prominently featured Brazilian açaí. The product quickly became far more successful than Monarch's original weight-management offerings, reportedly driving a tenfold increase in revenue during its first year. The business subsequently transitioned to the MonaVie name, with MonaVie LLC taking over the bottling, distribution, and marketing of the product line.

Monarch operated through independent distributors using a network marketing model. Distributors sold the company's health and wellness products and could build organizations of additional representatives. Court records from disputes involving former Monarch distributors confirm the use of independent contractor and distributor agreements.
