The Balance Company no longer appears to be active as a direct sales company.
In April 2008, The Balance Company joined the Youngevity group of direct-selling companies. Founder Jon Slavet’s professional history states that the brand was acquired by San Diego-based Youngevity, while Youngevity historical materials identify April 2008 as the month the company became part of the Youngevity organization. The acquisition price and detailed transaction terms were not publicly disclosed.
The Balance Company did not continue as a separately operated distributor opportunity after the acquisition. Its original products and branding were eventually discontinued or absorbed into Youngevity’s much larger health-and-wellness catalog. TheBalanceCompany.com now redirects visitors to Youngevity.com, and Youngevity does not currently present The Balance Company, BalanceBox, BalanceDrops or the original BalanceOne drink as active standalone brands.
Original Npros business profile for The Balance Company, preserved below for archival purposes:
The Balance Company was a San Mateo, California, health-and-wellness direct-selling company founded by Jon Slavet around 2005 and publicly launched during 2006. Slavet described the business as a direct-to-consumer wellness marketer and remained associated with it through 2009. The company promoted a broader lifestyle philosophy centered on physical health, energy, stress management, personal purpose and financial well-being.
The company's principal offering was the BalanceBox, a monthly wellness package containing BalanceOne nutritional products formulated separately for men and women, BalanceDrops lozenges marketed for energy and relaxation, and educational materials based on the company's BalanceGuide program. Promotional versions of the package also included a DVD, handbook and inspirational BalanceCards. BalanceOne was marketed as a fruit-based nutritional drink containing vitamins, minerals, phytonutrients and herbal ingredients.
The Balance Company distributed its products through independent Balance Consultants using replicated personal websites, product referrals and network-marketing recruitment. Consultants promoted both the wellness products and the BalanceCareer business opportunity. Surviving advertisements show that the company held opportunity calls and encouraged consultants to build sales organizations, but a complete compensation plan with verified commission percentages and rank requirements is no longer publicly available.
